So today was my sister's 21st birthday. Ok, technically it was yesterday, but it's 2 in the morning and I haven't switched over yet! Shaddup!
We went to the casino in town and ate at a buffet there. The food was edible, but personally I thought that only the Chinese food was ok, and even then it was mostly the Fried Rice that won me over. Afterwards, most of the party-goers proceeded to go up to gamble... but since I'm only 18, I left with my Aunt Kathy. She had pity on me, and took me to the Boardwalk to hang out. We played at the arcade (I wowed some guys...they were playing on Medium, and I took my turn, and at first they were laughing when I chose hard- but I played 'aint it Black' and did quite well!)
Afterwards, we went and watched Julie&Julia which is quite a good movie! Be sure to see it!

Monday I have a job interview at LSUS... I hope that it goes well. e_e

On another note, I am thinking of starting up a video blog on afew things. First,reviews- of books, games, and movies I happen to see. The main point of it will, however, be acquainting people with Greek mythological characters and stories. This is possible because of a webcam my cousin, Jeremiah, sent me...because he's great! ( huggles him
First off though, will some people give me hints on what myths to do first?

Well, my favorite Greek myth was the one about the embodiment of death and original God of the Underworld [Thanatos-Greek, Mors-Roman] before Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon took over and enslaved him to Hades. He was older and more powerful than they were but couldn't take all three of them on- kinda sad because he felt at peace with his position and Hades didn't want the job to begin with.
His parents were the godly representation of Darkness and Chaos and his twin brother is Hypnos, the god of sleep [a play on the fact that the dead often appear to be asleep]. It was common practice for the Greek to worship Thanatos because it was believed that because he felt so embittered by his humiliating situation as shepherd to souls that if he didn't like you he would allow the Keres [spirits of violent death] to take you- otherwise he would give you a very peaceful death.
I've always enjoyed Greek mythology- if you need more I'd be happy to provide.

Oh, it's not that I'm asking for information. XD I'm a Grecophile ( self made word...haha...), and I adore its mythology as well. I was asking if anybody had any stories or Mythological figures they wanted me to feature on my webblog or something XD
Oooooh. Okie dokie! Could you feature the Thanatos story then? :3 I also love the one about Helios with the boy who helped return his sheep- one of the few cute stories I've been able to find in Greek mythology, unfortunately.

Heh. XD Yeah, cute stories are few and far between. I do like the story of Hermes and Apollo... I think it was Apollo, at least, or was it Dionysus? ( gonk )
I've looked around in the books I have, and on a few really good sites, and I can't find hide nor hair of the usurped Thanatos story. o3o; They talk about him, but none of them mention that he was replaced as king of the underworld.
Hmm...that's probably because some confuse Thanatos with Orcus, who was a Roman god of the dead. I gave it a better look and it seems that there was some confusion in the translations of the stories when Greece was taken over. Some exchange Orcus for Pluto and Hades while others exchange him for Thanatos/Mors- thus the explanation of him becoming overthrown. Well, huh. :/
